A Verse for a Change

Hello to you all.  I am feeling a little lost this week as my daughter Becci and family are on their 'jollies' for two weeks - so no grandchildren around for a while.  It seems very quiet - especially as they now have an addition to their family who always comes to visit too - a Beagle puppy named Rosie - full of life as puppies are and much too energetic for our three year old Westie, Mac, who still has problems with his hind leg after his operation to replace his cruciate ligament earlier in the year.  A couple of photos of the dogs below.

Mac - our Westie

Rosie - the Beagle (12 weeks old)

Another piccie of Rosie

Anyway onto today's card which has a verse as a centre piece for a change - but then I couldn't resist adding a really cute Elisabeth Bell stamp - coloured as usual with Promarkers.

I am entering this into -

Craft-Dee BowZ - August Challenge - Anything Goes and include a Handmade Bow

Hope you like it and thanks for popping by.

Monochrome - Occasion-ally

Hello everyone - I hope you are all well.

I have just a short post for you tonight.  I would like to show you a monochrome card - not my usual style of card as there isn't an image - but I did enjoy making the flowers and piecing it all together.  The large flower is a Tonic Cornflower Floral Dielight - smaller flowers are different sizes of Woodware punches - the swirls and butterfly are MS dies.  The bottom trellis is handmade and the sentiment is computer generated.  The card used is from DCWV La Creme Cardstock stack.

This card will be entered into the following challenges -

Papertake Weekly Challenge - Occasion-ally - a card for an occasion
Dream Valley Challenge 63 - Monochrome

Thank you for popping by - I really appreciate your visit.

A little test piece - my first time using Polychromo Pencils

Good afternoon all.

I just thought I would let you know how I got on with the Polychromos and show you my little test piece.  I mentioned that I had bought some after noticing that a lot of people use them, either on their own or mixed with Prismas, Pro's etc.  I bought a tin of twelve colours to start off with just in case I didn't get on with them. I needn't have worried - these pencils are fantastic to use and blend beautifully.  I'm hoping that with a lot of practice (and a wider choice of colours maybe) I shall become as adept at using them as many of my blogging friends out there.  So here is my little test piece using the twelve colours I bought.  The image is The Paper Shelter's digi image 'Sophie in the Country'.

Thanks for popping by my blog - I do appreciate your visit.

Cute Cave Girl

Good morning everyone.  I hope you are all well and enjoying the weekend.

We've got an easy day today - much welcomed as we took our two grandchildren fruit picking yesterday.  Millie (4) had been asking to go for a while, so we took her and her younger brother Alex (18 months).  Well I think they ate more than they picked! - it's a good job they didn't get weighed before we went into the fields and again when we came out!.  Still they enjoyed themselves - but we have to go back again soon as Millie wants to go around the Maize Maze.  The Maize is so tall you have to carry a big flag on a long pole so that it can be seen as you walk around - then if you get lost someone can find you!  Mmmmm.

Anyway I have a card to show you today that I've made for my son's girlfriend.  The image is from the Paper Shelter 'Cute Cave Girl and is coloured in Pro's.  I have bought some Polychromos - I've noticed as I pop by your blogs that many of you use them so I thought I would give them a go - but I haven't had time yet!  Dies and punches used - Martha Stewart, Sizzix, Spellbinders Shapeabililies.  Flowers made using Tonic Petal Pairs.  Papers used are from First Edition - Desert Blooms.

I am entering this card into the following Challenges -

The Paper Shelter Challenge 123 - Punches and Dies
The Ribbon Girl August Card Challenge - A Birthday Card
Southern Girls Challenge Things Beginning with 'F' - Flowers, Filigree, Frame, Foliage,

Thank you for popping by my blog.

Summer Breeze - and Two Gift Bags

Good morning! It's not a bad day - at least there's no rain!

I have two creations to show you today - two gift bags - steps to make are in docrafts Creativity Magazine Issue 38 - and a birthday card.

A Papermania stamp that I think I bought last Christmas and never inked up was used on one of the bags, and coloured with Pro's.  It was decorated with a handmade flower, MS die Ice Skates and and MS leaf swirl.  I didn't think that the second bag needed much more than a hand made flower, ribbon bow and butterfly because of the paper I used to make the bag.  These bags are so easy to make and can be used to give a gift for all sorts of occasions like a gift for a new baby or a leaving gift.

I used a digi image called Summer Breeze from Spesch Designer Stamps for the birthday card coloured with Pro's and a touch of distress ink around the edges.  A few eyelets and a Spellbinders die for the sentiment finished it off.

An Easel Card Congratulations and a Challenge

Good evening all.  Well now I seem to be having a run on new babies arriving within the family and friends' families.  So I have been busy knitting as well as making boxes for the knitted items I have done - just a nice finishing touch.  The card I want to show you tonight is for a friend who has just had a baby girl.  I used a digi image from Di's Digi Stamps and coloured it with Promarkers.  The corners were punched using Tonic Floral Border Simplicity Punch.  Flowers were made using Woodware Plum punches.  The sentiment was typed on my computer and embellies and ribbons were from my stash.  A little bit of DecoArt Glamour dust on the butterflies, flowers and blanket to finish off.

Well it seems it has started to rain here now, so I shall say goodnight to you all and close my french windows (which have been opened wide to let in some cool air).

I would like to enter this into Di's Digi Stamps Fortnightly Challenges

Thank you for popping by.

A 'Thank You' Box Card

I was trawling through old card making magazines earlier in the week and the instructions for making a card box took my eye.  So out came my Tonic Studios Celtic Punch to punch a strip to attach to the border of the card, Tonic Punch and Stamp set to make the large rose and Tonic Petal Pairs to make the smaller roses.  The papers for the roses and for the background of the card came from the g.c.d. Lost in Paradise paper collection.  I painted some of the stamped petals with Perfect Pearls.  This is an unusual card for me as I have done more stamping and punching rather than using patterned papers and a coloured-in image.

I hope you like my take on the box card.  Thank you for popping by my blog.

Idle Hands ........

....not me.  I might have had my workspace taken from me - temporarily I might add - but have I idled the time away - no.  Just thought you would like to see a couple of creations I have worked on - there will be more to come until my space is sorted out!  ...... and those who have grandchildren will know that there is always something to do.

Cardigan for my three year old - soon to be four - granddaughter - still needs a button at this stage and I have found a little flower shaped button to put in the centre of the flower as well.  I think that will go quite well.

A little set for a newborn granddaughter - and yes I realise the bootees are in white - dark pink ones to match are on their way.  The wool is Debbie Bliss Merino - beautifully soft and perfect for a new born.

Well I'm off to buy some more wool now - doesn't look like I will have my workspace  back any time soon. Will let you know what comes next - although I think I may have to spend a little time in the garden now that the sun has decided to make a show.

Have a good day.

New Beginnings

A quick post tonight as I still have dust falling around me from the house alterations.  Nevertheless I did want to show you my latest creation for a friend's birthday.  I can't wait until everything is finished and back to normal - whatever normal is ....... then perhaps I can find all my crafting goodies and start creating again.

Anyway here it is.  Papers are from an old First Edition Book - Spring Feast.  Image is Ben from Mo Manning coloured with Promarkers - and a Marianne butterfly.  Roses are made from Tonic Petal Pairs and the flower in the bottom corner from Tonic's Punch and Stamp set, using two punched sepals in different colours glued together.

Thank you for looking and I hope you enjoy the rest of your evening.

Kenny K and Sketch Saturday Challenge

Good morning all.  Just a short post this morning to show a card that I am entering into two challenges.  I could not believe just how many problems I had with this card.  I must have started it at least three times - so much about it that I changed my mind about - and then I couldn't get the papers straight.  I blame the fact that we are altering a couple of rooms in the house at the moment - knocking two rooms into one - and one of the rooms is the one that I play in!  Not good eh - lack of concentration and having to keep the dust down.  Never mind - hopefully it'll be worth it when it's done.

Anyway here is my card -

I would like to enter it into -

Time for another Challenge methinks.......

Good morning everyone - I hope you are all well in blogland and looking forward to the weekend - they come round so fast, don't they.

It's been a month since our little dog had his operation on his leg so he can now start to go for walks - just 10 minutes at a time to start off with - and boy hasn't he been waiting for them!  He's been so sulky with us and gets really excited when we get visitors - I think he thinks they will take him out!  But he is only a three year old and has boundless energy that we have to try to control for at least another two months - sigh!

Today I am going to show you a card made for an 18 year old.  I have used a Kenny K image - Anime Rocker - but can't remember the book stack that the papers are from (lost the front cover).  The embossed square is Core Impressions, Vintage Brights Collection - there are 4 embossed patterns in 5 colours and they sand down to reveal the core colour with no effort.

A Book Card with Flowers and Fairies

Okay, so I'm sorry it has been a couple of weeks since I last posted.  I have an update to show you on the mini album I am attempting for the first time.  It's been a bit delayed because I had order some Tyvek Envelopes for the spine and had to wait for them to arrive ....the ones that feel furry but do not rip or puncture even when wet.  The material is ideal for reinforcing the spine and then Duck tape is put over the top of it.  (Credit to Kathy Orta - if you are into making mini albums or something a little different, her ideas are super fabby!)

I also have another box card to show you which is for a friend's birthday next week.  All the flowers are made from Tonic Studios punches - digi images from Spesch Digital Stamps - papers are some I've had around for a long time from Kay & Co Blue Awning.

Front of mini album - waiting to be decorated and some sort of fastening to be added.
Back also ready to be decorated.

Inside the front page showing how the cover is attached.  All the workings will be covered eventually.

......and now the box card........

Had to make a box to fit the box card.......
which looks like this.....

A Mini Album

Good afternoon all.  It has been a beautiful day here ........ I have spent most of it tidying the garden - enjoying the warm Spring sunshine    I am sure that I shall have a couple of  aches to show for it in the morning.  The house has once again been neglected - sigh.

I haven't blogged for a while - but there is a reason for that.  I have always fancied trying to make a mini album - you know the sort of little book like thing that you keep photo's in and little journalling notes that you make.  Well it has kept me busy - and that's just working out and writing down sizes in case I decide to make another one.  It's still not finished but I have a couple of piccies to show you how it's coming along.

This shows a page with one of the inserts.  There are three pockets on one side of the insert for tickets, journelling notes etc.  The other 3 sides of the insert will be for photos.
Showing the same page and how the insert fits into a pocket in the side of the page.
An insert with three pockets waiting to be decorated.  (Not very pretty at this stage)
 The insert decorated.
The beginning of the binding and spacers to hold all the pages together.
...and this will be the hard cover for the front.......there's a similar one for the back cover.

So there it is - as you can see there's still much to be done.  I'm not very good at explaining so I hope you got the gist of it. There'll be more photo's when it's complete.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

Happy Birthday - Let's Celebrate

Good afternoon everyone.  I hope you are all well on this bright but - brrrrr cold - Sunday afternoon.  Been snowing again - just a little - today.   Just the excuse to snuggle into my little crafting corner and disappear into my crafting world, before I have to pop out later on.

I've had some Tonic Studios dies hanging around for a while and have used the Vine Square Die on this card along with Xcut die Spiro Circle.  The image is Pop Star from the Paper Shelter, coloured with Promarkers.  Papers are G.C.D Carnival Ride.

A Card for a New Baby Boy

Good evening.  What a lovely three days of sunshine we have had - still a little chilly - but cheerful nonetheless.  Just a quick post tonight to share with you a card I've made for a baby boy.  I treated myself to some new dies over the weekend and the one I used here is one of the Tattered Lace interlocking dies designed by Stephanie Weightman.  It is one die but actually cuts four pieces - including a sentiment (which I haven't used in this card) - a very versatile die.

'Ent-vined' with You

Hello everyone.  Well it is still white outside and I think there is more of the white 'stuff' to come tomorrow.  Not that I mind, it does make the landscape pretty.  Our little dog has had to remain at the vet's overnight after his operation - he had to remain sedated and have pain killers.  We've missed him so much - but never mind with luck he will be back with us in the morning.

But .....onto my latest project.  This image is a BeansieDoodle image coloured with Promarkers.  Still practising my colouring so probably haven't done as much justice to the image as could've been done.  I used my usual Tonic Petal Pairs punches to make the roses and bud.  Papers were free with a mag, ribbons and lace from local haberdashery shop, and dies are Spellbinders and MC.  I would like to enter this card into the following Challenges:-

Thanks for looking and I hope you like it.  Methinks it's a glass or two of red now to stop me worrying about my little dog until tomorrow.

A Book Card

Good evening everyone.  I hope you are all well and not yet snowed in. We are white over again here and it is still snowing heavily.  Funny how it always stays away for the weekend and arrives just in time for a work day!

Today I want to show you a book card I have made.  It looks more difficult to make than it actually is and can be used to hold a small gift or just have that little special message.  I have made it for my granddaughter's birthday and will put in it a little gift for her.  She just loves Rapunzel and the Disney film Tangled, which is about Rapunzel.

I have used a Paper Shelter image, Rapunzel and coloured her with Promarkers.  The papers are G.C.D. Carnival Ride and I have used Martha Stewart dies.  Ribbon and heart brad from stash.

The background picture is a picture of the castle where Rapunzel was held prisoner and shows her hair flowing down to the ground.

I would like to enter this card into:

Sketch Saturday - sketch
The Paper Shelter Challenge - Alter something or a card with many folds.

Hope you don't get too much snow!  Enjoy the remainder of the evening.
